Nicole Kidman's message

this is a message from Nicole Kidman:

Before the year comes to an end, I want to tha nk you so much for raising your voice and adding your name to UNIFEM’s Say NO to Violence against Women campaign. The results have been overwhelming! On 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, it was my privilege to present 5,066,549 signatures to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York. (You can still watch the event on webcast at: http://www.unifem.org/campaigns/vaw/multimedia.php.)

Together, we have demonstrated that there is indeed a global movement of people determined to put an end to violence against women. What’s more, decision makers at the highest levels have joined us to publicly commit to make ending violence against women a top priority. Heads of State and Ministers representing 64 governments have signed on. This strong show of political will is incredibly important for there to be decisive action. (See the government list at: http://www.unifem.org/campaigns/vaw/supporters_government.php.)

Now, we must capitalize on the momentum created. Say NO was designed to feed into the UN Secretary-General’s campaign UNiTE to End Violence against Women that will run until 2015. To further support the UN Secretary-General’s efforts, we will continue to mobilize and expand the Say NO network. We invite everyone to join and stay involved by going to: www.saynotoviolence.org. My friends at UNIFEM will provide you with regular updates and let you know about new ways to participate. In turn, let us know about efforts underway where you are by sending them to: saynotoviolence@unifem.org.

Before we say farewell to 2008, I want to thank you again for carrying on the Say NO campaign’s message — you made its success possible. In 2009, I look forward to being in touch with more news on actions to make ending violence against women a reality.

Happy Holidays and a great start into the New Year!

here's a new year's quote:

The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul and a new nose; new feet, a new backbone, new ears, and new eyes. Unless a particular man made New Year resolutions, he would make no resolutions. Unless a man starts afresh about things, he will certainly do nothing effective.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Sixty years ago the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a groundbreaking document
recognizing fundamental, equal, and inalienable rights for all
individuals that was drafted at the UN under the leadership of Eleanor
Roosevelt.

Thanks in large part to the Declaration, much progress has been made
in the realm of human rights. Nevertheless, we still have a long way to
go.

In a 21st Century world in which violence, torture, human trafficking,
and even genocide continue to persist, the Universal Declaration
remains a unique and invaluable instrument for promoting universal
respect for basic human rights.

Help commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights, and honor the legacy of Eleanor Roosevelt, by calling
on President-elect Obama to recommit the United States to the
Declaration’s enduring principles and to work through the UN to
promote human rights.

My feeling about my Goal

What I feel about my Goal #8 Develop Global Partnership for Development is happiness. I feel happiness because whenever someone says my goal out loud, for me it seems to be with my friends. It is related to my goal because my goal tries is to make everyone in the world become friends. With this I feel comfortable with my goal.

Dream Project A.A

When I was doing a skit for the dream project(Goal #8 Develope global partnership for development). I felt emberressed in front of my classmates. I was also proud of my classmates for creating their own skit. Even though I play a small part in the dream Project I feel proud of myself for participating. Now I think wars fights and gangs should stop.If these things dont stop people could lose their life for nothing. I hope one day all of the millenium goals are completed so the earth would be a better place.

The Dream Project rulles.

I felt very confident while doing the skits yesterday. I would like to thank Ms. Kelly for telling me and informing me to the U.N melledium goals. The goal that I'm working on is goal #6 to combat Hiv/aids malaria and other diseases. I learned a lot by studding this goal like that a lot of people die mostly every day by lots of deadly diseases. Al tho some have stopped and died and there have been some cures like vaczines but still some keep growing and becoming more deadlier.

Before I didn't even know that the millennium goals existed until Kelly came along to teach them to us. Another thing that I didn't was that many people in developing countries had way less than what we had. We are destroying and harming natural resources that other people don't have. If people don't do anything to stop this the world would get worse. I will try hard to do something about these millennium development goals. Thnk you Ms. Dumaua, Kelly, Amanda, and Milinda.

Sincerely, Salvador C.
I AM GOAL # 6 COMBAT HIV / AIDS MALERIA AND OTHER DISEASES
My feelings are that I felt so good of helping other people in dieases. I never new about the goals but now I do that you Kelly thought me what that mean't. I thank Kelly, Amanda, and Melinda for sharing with us now and my class. I also thank my teacher for also sharing with us. I want to see if I can do something to help my enviroment and even more places. I am so glad that I am in this program right now to help make the world better.

What I felt about goal # 8 and that is Develop Global Partnership for Develpoment . That is so important to me that we all the people should know what is the UN . When we did the skit it was so excite and nervous for us to present this in front of all the people that were watching us . I thank Ms. Dumana , Mrs . Kelly , Ms . Amanda , Ms . Zambrano for helping us know the UN for we to teach are grandchildren .

My Feelings

What I feel about goal #8 Develop Global Partnership for Development is that these problems are very serious. If we fix all of them our world can change. People can actually open their eyes and see how our world is worstening. Together we can change the world.

I'm goal #6: Combat HIV/Aids Malaria and Other Diseases

My feelings are that I feel good because i'm helping people. I never knew what the Millenium Goals were until Kelly told us about it. It opened up my eyes because I didn't know that there was any Millenium Goals. Also I didn't know that there was so many problems around the world. I feel good because now I know about the problems about the problems and I will try to help them accomplish the goals. I want to thank Kelly, Melinda, and Amanda for telling me about the Millenium Goals. I also want to thank my teacher Ms. Dumau for letting me be a part of the Millenium goals and I'm glad to be a part of this

Crystal M. 12-11-08 My Experience with the Goals

I am in Goal #5- Improving Maternal When I got this oppurtunity to be able to be part of the Dream Project was like winning an award. When I was introduced I never knew that the world was this bad. Before I was introduced to these UN Millennium Goals, I thought that the world was in a good shape. But when I was introduced, I thought the world was falling apart. I am very glad that I have been given this oppurtunity to be able to save the world and the people in it!!!

YADIRA H. LOVES THE MILEMINUM GOALS

I feel so happy to be able to participate in this project. I never thought that so many people around the world littered and that some people drink dirty water every single day. I never knew about these goals until Kelly came in and taught me about this. I thank Kelly, Amanda, and Melinda for bringing this project to our art class. my goal is to ensure enviromental sustaisnability which is goal #7. I feel sad for all those people who don't have clean water and for the many sea animals who die because of dirty waters. I really never thought that so many sea animals died. I thank Ms. Dumaua for letting Kelly, Amanda, and Melinda, and the whole dream project into our class. I feel so so happy to be able to help all these goals because kids can make a difference.

I first want to thank the crew of the draem project because they were the one's who intoduuced the dream project to me if they would have not introduced it to me a would have still been harming the earth instead of taking care of it.

I love the dream project!

Whe I presented I was nervous. But once I actually presented I was just having fun. I think so far the dream project has taught me more than my years of school. I feel that I should really try to donate everything I can to organizations that are working on this problem. Before i didn't know about the problems people faced. As amatter of fact I didn't even know about the United Nations Millenium Goals. The dream project was here on my first day of school. I am glad I was able to work on the dream project. Goal number five rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jacqueline G. 12-11-08 My great Experience with the Dream Project

I am in goal #7- Ensure Enviromental Sustainability. I am glad to be able to learn about the millennium goals. I couldn't believe the amount of people suffering because of these problems. I think that we should all work together to solve these problems. By being in this project we were all able to work together in creating a scit about our goal. Thank you Kelly and Amanda for giving me the opportunity to be part of the Dream Project. It has been a great experience for me.

Millinium Goals

My fellings about "THE DREAM PROJECT"

Well I felt alot of things because of the The Dream Project, and one of them is that i got so inspired that me and my group are willing to waste our money to save these poor women from dying a horrible death,me and my group are making a bake sale to raise up money to buid some close hospital, doctors,or give them medicare. I am so mad because all these women are dying, but im also happy because im there to help them.
p.s. I want to thank Kelly,Ms.Dumau,Melinda,and Amanda.

Goal #5 Improve maternal health care

My Thoughts

I feel glad that we were doing these skits because it shows how to bring it to life. I am glad that Ms. Kelly showed us the Millenium Development Goals because I never new what was happening around the world. Also in my group Goal #6 Combat Hiv Aids Malaria and other diseases I never knew that people around the world were dieng of diseases. I never knew womens didn't have propel health to have birth. Thanks to Ms.Dumaua, Ms.Kelly, Amanda, and Melinda for helping us in The Dream Project.

Ashley G.12-11-08 The accomplishments for the goals

I'm in goal # 5 and when I got this oppurtunity to be in the dream project it was magnificent because its wonderful that we are accomplishing goals that are really going on right now in the world . Before I didnt even know about these most important goals now its a real honor to be participating in these goals. Now that I know about these goals I see the world as a differnt world and thats very strange because I knew that things were going wrong in the world but I didn't care now I do. I want to give a special thanks to evryone who is working on the goals. Now I'm going to prevent anything bad happening right now.

Alexis C. My Experience

I would like to thank Kelly and Miss Dumaua, for introducing me to the Dream Project. Now i know that it does not take many people to make a differance in our world. It was worth it to be able to explain something so serious in a way anyone could understand. Our plays allowed us to learn and then be able to teach people about these problems affecting many people around the world. Now i feel a need to help reach all of these molenium goals. I would like to make more hospitals to complete the 6th goal which is to "combat HIV/AIDS Maleria and other diseases.

My most thoughtful feelings

I feel very informed and proud about my goal which is goal #5. The reason I feel informed is because I learned new things that I didn't know before about my goal. One thing I learned is that not only mothers have died when they give birth, but also children that don't have healthcare. I also feel proud of my goal because I'm finally going to achieve something that's important and that really takes my attention. I'd like to give thanks to Kelly, Amanda, and Melinda for cooperating with my group which is Goal #5 IMPROVE MATERNAL HEALTHCARE.

Jason F. Thoughts and Feelings

I'd like to thank kelly for giving me the chance to participate in the UN millineum goals. I never knew these problems ever existed until Kelly opened up my eyes. :D She showed me what we could do to accomplish these goals if we just try. Everyone is the because and everyone is the answer. I'd also like to thank Milenda, Amanda, Ms. Dumaua, and anyone else who or has participated in accomplishing the UN Millinuem goals. We should try our best to accomplish the goals by 2015, wait not 2015 but 2010. The people of the world ( like me) cause it and we should be the ones to stop it.

KIDS ARE THE FUTURE AND THEY HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE , SO HELP THE WORLD!!!!!!!
